Don’t Let Residual Income Opportunities Ruin Your Friendships

While residual income opportunities help us to establish financial freedom, we’ve all been duped by the soft sell. A new friend invites us over for lunch and we find out it is really to promote plastic containers that she sells. An acquaintance from your house of worship invites you over on Friday. While you are imagining snacks and songs, your neighbor has prepared an hour long presentation, complete with video and paperwork, about a new investment opportunity. How frequently do we really pursue friendships with these people? If we are not interested in their goods or services, do we ever get another invitation?

While recruiting everyone around you is one of the ways to build residual income, it certainly won’t make you well-liked. I know salespeople who have become so pushy that people cross the street or turn around to avoid them. When you take your need to earn residual income to this level, you are actually thwarting your own efforts to make money.

Of course many residual income programs are based on multi level marketing, which involves recruitment. However, it doesn’t mean to base all your future friendships on whether or not the people buy your goods or services. By making your business the basis of your friendships, you are sabotaging them and your income potential.

There are other ways to earn residual income without alienating your friends. First of all, you should naturally, over the course of time, let people know what you do for a living, express moderate enthusiasm about it and measure the level of interest a friends shows. If they seem interested, take it to the next level – if not, don’t ruin a friendship when there are other ways to get customers. Additionally, ruining a friendship wrecks possible referrals. After all, if your friend is not interested, they may mention it to a cousin who is.

Try marketing your residual income opportunity online. The Internet is a vast market waiting to be tapped that won’t compromise your relationships with friends, family and neighbors while you take advantage of residual income opportunities to achieve financial freedom in your future.
